Formerly the Memphis Cotton Carnival, Carnival Memphis has been around since 1931. This annual celebration consists of a series of parties and festivals similar to Mardi Gras. During the month of June, the Carnival Memphis Association and its krewes select a King, Queen, and Royal Court to reign over the festivities, including parades and events celebrating local industries.
Hattiloo Theatre is a Black repertory theatre company that is dedicated to developing a Black theater that is accessible to, relevant to, and reflective of a multicultural community. The theater stages at least seven major productions and about six special performances authored by Black writers each entertainment season.
Go Tigers! Go! Get ramped up for the University of Memphis Tigers. The Memphis Tigers consist of nine women's sports teams and nine men's, including baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, rifle, soccer, tennis, track and field and volleyball. Wear blue and grey, and come out to support the local college sports teams.
