Be moved by the union of words and music at the Opera Memphis. Charted in 1956 by a group of Memphians interested in producing regional opera, Opera Memphis successfully produces three operas each season, as well as hosting special events and reaching out to the community through educational programs.
For a touch of art integrated into the beauty of nature, visit the Crystal Shrine Grotto. This man-made cave is located inside Memorial Park Cemetery and features the work of Mexican folk artist Dionicio Rodriquez. Ten scenes depict the life of Jesus Christ, but even non-Christians will appreciate the beautiful art and the peaceful ambiance of this grotto.
Children and parents alike will delight in My Big Backyard Children's Garden located in the Memphis Botanic Garden. The huge playground incorporates its structure into nature, stringing up rope bridges between trees and sculpting plants into shapes children can play on. Cool off during the summer months with the new water features, such as the artificial thunderstorm. This attraction has all of the necessary components for some fun in the sun.
