Join residents as they celebrate Memphis in May, a month-long festival featuring four main events: the Beale Street Music Festival, International Week, the World Championship Barbeque Cooking Contest and the Sunset Symphony. Children and parents alike will delight in My Big Backyard Children's Garden located in the Memphis Botanic Garden. The huge playground incorporates its structure into nature, stringing up rope bridges between trees and sculpting plants into shapes children can play on. Cool off during the summer months with the new water features, such as the artificial thunderstorm. This attraction has all of the necessary components for some fun in the sun.

For a unique collection of art and artifacts, visit the Belz Museum of Asian & Judaic Art. Located near the famous Peabody Hotel, this specialized art museum features the largest and most comprehensive collection of Chinese art in the southern region of the United States. The museum is privately owned and stores a large permanent collection, it also hosts a number of events throughout the year.
