Go on a water recreation adventure with Ghost River Canoe and Kayak Rentals. Follow the well-marked canoe trail in the Wolf River. This 8.5-mile trail includes many turns, beautiful cypress, wildlife sightings, a trip through Spirit Lake and the mystic Ghost Section. Located about half an hour outside of Memphis, this part of the river is great for more experienced paddlers but not recommended for beginners.
For a touch of art integrated into the beauty of nature, visit the Crystal Shrine Grotto. This man-made cave is located inside Memorial Park Cemetery and features the work of Mexican folk artist Dionicio Rodriquez. Ten scenes depict the life of Jesus Christ, but even non-Christians will appreciate the beautiful art and the peaceful ambiance of this grotto.
Catch a Broadway play or a popular concert at the Orpheum Theatre. This elegant entertainment venue showcases some of the most famous local, national and international performers in Memphis. Watch a play or musical performance, or even a movie, at this Renaissance-style theater. Events and shows occur on an almost daily basis, so there is always something to see at the Orpheum.
Stop by The Cooper-Young Festival for live music all day long. Bands play everything from classic blues and rock to alternative and indie music. This popular outdoors market and arts festival draws out the best local and regional talent. Buy locally made clothes, jewelry, art, pottery and other textiles from vendors, as well as delicious food from local restaurants.
