Along with sale, Whataburger announces major leadership changes

San Antonio-based Whataburger is making several leadership changes, which it announced June 14 along with its agreement to sell a majority of the company to Chicago-based private equity fund BDT Capital Partners.Promotions are effective July 1.At the top is the promotion of CFO Ed Nelson to company president. Nelson joined Whataburger in 2004 as controller and has been CFO since 2008. Nelson has overseen all finance, accounting, treasury and business risk, and reporting operations for Whataburgers

Gov. Greg Abbott on June 15 signed the beer-to-go bill.It allows craft breweries to sell beer at the breweries that people can take home. Previously, sales had to go through a distributor.Some local brewers have said the relaxed rules are expected to lead to more sales immediately and many are eager for long-term benefits that could include more deals with retailers because tap room sales are viewed as a handy metric to show off to big retailers.
