Established in the aftermath of the Mexican War and abandoned after World War II, Fort McIntosh served as a strategic guard for the Texas frontier. The fort is preserved as part of the Laredo Community College campus although the Laredo United States Army Reserve 340th Quarter Master Company continues to occupy the fort. It's definitely a sight to see for military history buffs.
The Laredo Center of the Arts aims to unleash the artistic potential in every Laredo resident. This grassroots organization has grown over the year to encompass three galleries and a variety of artistic and cultural events, such as local, regional, national and international art exhibitions, dance performances, art history lectures, musical performances and art education classes for adults and children.
Children will love learning about the Rio Grande ecosystem at the Lamar Bruni Vergara Environmental Science Center. Located on the campus of Laredo Community College, this environmental science center contains live specimens of local flora and fauna in a living laboratory. It's a great outdoor educational center for any family vacation.
Visit the Cold Brew for a locally-owned and family-operated bar. Sports nights are Mondays and Tuesdays, while you can show off your voice at karaoke on Wednesdays. Join in the party on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for a live band performance. Rock on all night long at this nightlife venue.
