Utah's Hogle Zoo was founded back in 1931 at the mouth of Emigration Canyon and it remains one of the most visited attractions in Utah. There are over 800 animals in residence. The outdoor gardens effectively represent twenty-six countries through their native plants, garden architecture, and statues of world peace leaders associated with that particular nation. The Peace Garden was created as a citizenship project to promote peace and understanding in the international community.
