The Great Dismal Swamp is located in southeastern Virginia and northeastern Carolina and has been recognized as a mysterious natural attraction where several people have easily lost their way. Originally established in 1974, this refuge is made up of 112,684 acres of forested wetlands. The 31,000-acre Drummond Lake is found at the center of the swamp.

A two-lane boat ramp is just one of the many attractive features to be found at Great Bridge Lock Park. Located along the Intracoastal Waterway just off Battlefield Boulevard, this spot is named after the lock that separates saltwater and freshwater bodies of water, which of course offers anglers the opportunity to catch different types of fish as they light out to the body of water of their choice.
