Originally built between 1851 and 1859, this impressive structure was the home of affluent planter Richard Decauter Lee. The Victorian-styled home never fails to mesmerize the many visitors who quietly tour the various rooms which are furnished with impressively detailed, authentic furniture and accessories. Also, there are special events and evening programs that are planned year round.

Man's best friend needs some quality time outdoors, too, so if your pooch is begging for a little outdoor fun, make your way to the Chesapeake Dog Park. This dog park is located near the Western Branch Community Center and offers such amenities as covered picnic tables and benches. The facility is an off-leash park that offers plenty of open spaces for your dog to play, and the fenced area features even more benches as well as a water fountain.

Sure, your date is sweet, but you'll both share in creating something even sweeter when you both visit the Bergey's Dairy Farm on your next romantic date. Your visit isn't about looking at everything from the view of an outsider–you will actually get to do some work on this dairy farm as part of the fun! This farm was originally founded by Titus Bergey in 1931 and still offers fresh milk in bottles, butter and sweet homemade ice cream produced right on this charming farm.

History and astronomy come together in a dazzling way at the Chesapeake Planetarium. From an historic standpoint, the facility is significant because it is the first planetarium built by a public school system in the state of Virginia. But this attraction also offers visitors a chance to gaze into the night sky and be amazed at the intricate patterns and formations that make up the constellations everyone has heard about. The staff is highly knowledgeable and can answer any questions you may have. Also, there are various lectures and special presentations on the schedule. And of course, the opportunity to see the stars up close is always available thanks to the high powered telescopes and other impressive equipment that is available here.
