Visit the birthplace of modern Seattle at the Pioneer Square District. This area served as the city´s first neighborhood and urban center, and is currently protected as a historical district with several preserved buildings and homes from the Victorian era and earlier. Visit some of the local shops and art galleries as well, when you are in the area.
Don´t feel like leaving the city for a hike or bike? Check out the Burke Gilman Trail. Once an abandoned railroad line, this paved recreation path provides plenty of hiking, biking, jogging and running opportunities for those in the city. It currently extends about 90 miles in Seattle and further throughout King County in Washington.
Seattle is known for its delicious brews, but Espresso Vivace Roasteria offers something much different than the Starbucks and Seattle´s Best chains found throughout the city. Opened in 1988 and inspired by Northern Italian espresso, Espresso Vivace creates their drinks with the motto "una bella tazza di caffe"–a beautiful cup of coffee.
Originally built in 1928 as a film and vaudeville theater, the renovated Paramount Theatre is one of Seattle´s most popular performing arts and entertainment venues. Catch a Broadway play or a concert by your favorite band, or see a variety of other performances including dance, comedy, family engagements, silent films and much more.
