The Mobile BayBears are a minor league baseball team that plays in the Southern League. The sports team is the Double-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks major league club. The team plays its home games at Hank Aaron Stadium.
When the people of Mobile think antiques, they think Mary Parker. She has been collecting, refinishing and selling antiques in the area since the 60's. At Mary Parker Antiques, you will be amazed at not only the selection of vintage furniture, housewares and collectables, but you will also be impressed by the excellent condition in which these items are offered. So if you are out to find a memorable gift for someone (or acquire something special for your home), come by and find what you are looking for at Mary Parker Antiques.
The lush sweeping sounds of violins and cellos will draw you in to each and every aspect of the many dramatic and sweeping performances of the Mobile Symphony. Not only does the group present various classics from the world's most loved composers, but they also stretch out to present special engagements and entertainment. For example, a recent show was a presentation of the Music of Pink Floyd. The symphony also raises funds for the continuance of music education and offers special events and camps for aspiring musicians.
Among the many cultural influences that have shaped Mobile's history, the African-American contribution is highly significant. That fact is rightfully celebrated at the National African-American Archives and Museum. This venue is designed to enrich visitors' understanding of the African-American experience through the use of many exhibits that feature such notable artifacts as the “Clotilde,” one of the last known slave ships, items that tell the story of home run king Hank Aaron as well as items that tell the stories of other famous figures.
