This incredible church and architectural attraction was built in the first half of the 19th century. The structure's architectural style is Greek Revival, and this basilica is noteworthy for several reasons, not the least of which are the glorious stained glass windows, hand-carved stations of the cross, as well as the smooth-polished marble designs. And don't miss a chance to snap several photos of the cathedral's front facade as it offers an excellent photo opportunity for every visitor.

Step onto the historic ground that sits under Fort Gaines. This storied point on Dauphin Island was built after the War of 1812 to better defend Alabama's port cities. Originally, construction on this fort began in 1821 but was beset with various problems that included the tides rushing into the work area that made progress on the structure highly challenging. Construction began again in earnest in 1850 after the location and building strategy was changed just in time to serve its purpose in the Civil War as it was a vital part of the Battle of Mobile Bay. When you visit this attraction, don't forget to stop in to the museum and gift shop.

If you find yourself wandering around downtown Mobile, make sure to make your way to Spanish Plaza. This scenic, oak-shaded plaza is one of downtown's most photographed attractions, and once you get closer to it, it is easy to see why. One end of the plaza features a classically-styled European inn with iron-faced railings called Malaga. The impressive artwork displayed here won't escape your eye either, as you will be amazed at the Arches of Friendship sculpture, the “Fish Monger” statue and fountain and a plaque that remembers Bernardo de Galvez, the first governor of the Louisiana Territory.
