Enjoy the preserved beauty of a stately home that has now been transformed into the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens. The original collection of the former residents has expanded from 60 pieces to more than 5,500 European and American works of art dating from 2100 BC to the present.

The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens opened in 1961 on the grounds of the former residence of Arthur and Ninah Cummer. The museum started with a small collection of just sixty pieces. Almost 50 years after opening, the museum now houses over 5,500 European and American works of art dating from 2100 BC to the 21st century.

The museum and gardens are visited by more than 95,000 guests annually and is registered as a National Historic Place. The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens is home to Art Connections, a nationally known learning center that educates 50,000 students each year and offers hands-on art experiences for museum visitors.

An amazing animal sanctuary awaits you at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. The animal preserve sits on 110 acres at the mouth of the Trout River and is home to exhibits and attractions that display more than 2,000 exotic animals and 1,500 plant species.

The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens sprawl across 110 acres at the mouth of the Trout River. The zoo is home to over 2,000 exotic animals and 1,500 plant species. In part of its mission to act as "responsible stewards of our plant Earth," the zoo is active in animal conservation, participating in over 20 Species Survival Plans.

The zoo's largest exhibit is "Range of the Jaguar," featuring, you guessed it, jaguars. Currently home to eight jaguars, in terms of animals it is the largest jaguar exhibit in North America. While roaming through the range, you'll find Central and South American reptiles and amphibians like anacondas, caiman lizards and poison dart frogs. Sloths, monkeys, anteaters and birds like macaws, cuckoos and herons can also be spotted.

The Jacksonville Zoo has an exhibit that features Florida wildlife in the wetlands. "Wild Florida" features American alligator, American black bear, red wolves, Florida panthers, white-tail deer, otters, bobcats and bald eagles.

Other exhibits you will find at the Jacksonville Zoo are "Great Apes of the World," "Australian Adventure," "African Plains," "Stingray Bay," "Asian Bamboo Garden and Komodo Dragon" and the botanical gardens, "Savannah Blooms" and "Gardens of the Trout River Plaza."
