Originally a central point of early Detroit lost in the reconfiguration of roads and traffic, the famous Campus Martius Park was re-established as a Renaissance City focal point in 2003. Located in the heart of downtown, this urban park was designed to resemble New York City’s Rockefeller Center with its sculptures, monuments, fountains, bistros, patches of greenery and skating rink hemmed in by towering buildings and other downtown attractions.

Right by the Renaissance Center, the GM Plaza and Promenade along the Riverfront has plenty for lovers, young and old. With a spectacular water feature known as the Fountains and a breathtaking view of the city’s impressive architecture, this area is perfect for a romantic rendezvous, lazily strolling along after a long day. Enjoy live music at the Majestic Theatre, one of Detroit’s most popular historical landmarks and entertainment venues. This striking Art Deco building has been around since 1915, when it was one of the largest movie theaters in the world. Nowadays, the Majestic is separated into three distinct areas–the Majestic, the Majestic Cafe, and the Magic Stick – all of which host popular musical acts.
