Shea's Performing Arts Center brings Broadway to Buffalo! This time-tested venue opened its doors in 1926 and has been consistently delivering riveting performances ever since. This rustic but appealing bar is housed in a timber-framed building and is made even more appealing by the friendly staff and equally amiable patrons. Lots of great eats are on the menu that include beef on weck, a slow-roasted beef that will melt in your mouth. Also, don't forget to order the excellent buffalo wings that are offered in a variety of flavors that include Sicilian, barbecue and, if you dare, suicidal!

Artpark accomplishes the formidable task of combining art with nature. The project is one that succeeds brilliantly. As for the art portion of the equation, there are several outdoor events scheduled at the park throughout the year that include concerts, recitals and various other presentations that celebrate the many types of performing arts. But also, Artpark is a haven for nature lovers as visitors can enjoy hiking and walking, biking, fishing, and picnicking. There are large sculptures along the walking trail as well as an 1,800-year-old burial mound to take in as you walk through the trails. There are also several opportunities for birding, as several feathered species make their home here.

While many people see the Erie Canal from a distance, getting a closer look will reveal how this body of water works to further the area's economy. The canal is actually quite interesting, and you can learn more about it when you take the Lockport Locks and Erie Canal Cruise. Your tour guide will be quite informative from start to finish, describing how Lockport is known for the area's water "locks" that run approximately 50 feet. When you cruise through the canal on this tour, you'll actually go through the "locks" and see for yourself how these locks are used to move traffic along the river and its uniquely elevated terrain. It's a great tour for the whole family.
