If you want to find a variety of specialty shops while getting a taste of Amarillo's past, check out the Historic Route 66 downtown. The shops usually don't stay open late, so starting your shopping excursion either just after 10 am or before 5 pm is a good idea. Aside from these great little stores, you'll enjoy the rustic architecture that harkens back to a time when there were horses in the streets instead of cars. Even with it's modern update this area has retained that dusty, old-time feeling and a lot of character that you'll enjoy while shopping the streets of this district.

No matter what the season may be, there is always something fun to do or discover at the Amarillo Botanical Gardens. The beautiful landscape that features a winding walking path is punctuated by benches that invite you to sit for awhile and reflect on the beautiful flowers and trees that inhabit this outdoor oasis. Also, you can enjoy various concerts, classes, and special presentations that are scheduled every month. The Amarillo Botanical Garden is without question the city's crown jewel of natural beauty.

Come and be totally inspired by the performance excellence and sounds of the Amarillo Symphony which has been making music in the Texas Panhandle since 1924 and is still delighting fans of all ages and backgrounds. With an impressive array of no less than 85 first-class musicians, the Symphony continues to shine forth with a passion and joy for music in each and every concert.  Make sure to attend the Greater Southwest Music Festival held annually in Amarillo, Texas for regional performers.
