The Amarillo Country Club golf course is a highly regarded set of eighteen holes laid out over a moderately accessible landscape. The course features 3 sets of teeboxes to keep things fun and challenging.
A good number of trees line the fairways, and water hazards come into play on only a couple of holes. The hole to look out for is #6, which is a 349-yard, par 4 that requires a shot over a lake to very well-bunkered green. Overall, a fun, solid playing experience good for players of every skill level.
Comanche Trail Golf Complex is owned by the City of Amarillo. The original Tomahawk Course was designed by Charles Howard, Austin Texas and opened in July 1990. The course offers professional practice facilities including a large full length driving range with many tee areas, two large practice greens with chipping areas, and a sand bunker to practice short or long shots.
Comanche Trail Golf Complex is home to Major Area Championships, Charity and Civic Golf Tournaments, Customer Appreciation Events, along with many Church, Family Reunions, and Class Reunion Outings.
The Arrowhead Course was opened in May 1999. The layout was designed by Cupp Design, Atlanta Georgia. Both golf courses offer championship golf at affordable prices. The layouts are Scottish style links nestled in the heart of the Texas Panhandle.
If you're looking for a fun, inexpensive way to play golf or just work on improving your game, head to the Preston West Par 3 Golf Course.
Touted as a great value for the money, this course features some holes with water hazards, and others with strategically designed sand traps and deceptively inviting greens that will have your shot turn quickly if you're not careful. Many players agree that the Preston is the perfect place to go to work on your short game.
Tascosa Course
La Paloma Course
The Tascosa Golf Club presents some obvious challenges over its eighteen holes. You'll face a rolling terrain, elevation changes, and several water hazards on the course. Those include a lake, a creek and a natural waterfall.
The Club also features 6,676 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. Among veteran golfers, this course rates somewhat difficult because of the water hazards and high elevation, so be prepared to have your senses dazzled and your game sharpened by the natural surroundings.
