Find out how tough and resilient the original inhabitants of the Texas Panhandle were by taking in the various exhibits and displays at the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum. The venue has the distinction of being the largest history museum in the state, and none of that space is wasted in telling the dramatic stories of how life on the plains came to be. Also, don't miss the beautiful collection of Texas art that includes Southwest American Indian art. Amarillo Cadillac Ranch Amarillo Cadillac Ranch

Immortalized in Bruce Springsteen's song of the same name, Amarillo Cadillac Ranch is a visually arresting attraction that has real Cadillacs seemingly growing out of the Texas soil. Located just outside of town, 12 miles to the west on I-40, the site is the creation of Stanley Marsh 3, a land and broadcasting mogul and easily one of Amarillo's more powerful figures. Marsh's eccentricity and taste of the unusual, as well as his love for Cadillacs, fueled his ambition to create this memorable attraction and photo opportunity on the North Texas skyline.
