The Amarillo Farm and Ranch Show takes place every fall at the Amarillo Civic Center and features over 450 companies showcasing the latest agricultural equipment and the newest information through special presentations, workshops and seminars.
Nearly 30,000 attendees from the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles attend the show, along with visitors from New Mexico, Colorado and Kansas. Everyone from farmers to ranch workers to businessmen who deal with farming and everything that goes with it, make it a point to be in Amarillo for this show.
Even though the people in Amarillo like to throw a good party, they like to give back with equal enthusiasm. That's what the Center City Block Party is all about. Held every August, the event takes place in the downtown area of Amarillo.
Music is definitely in the air, as five stages feature 25 bands throughout the seven hour event. Food vendors and attractions consistently attract large crowds, and the festival atmosphere not only keeps everyone in a great mood, it also helps to raise funds for Center City.
The Greater Southwest Music Festival annually welcomes students from Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Kansas. In recent years students from 60 schools in 40 cities have resulted in average entries of 64 choirs, 105 bands and orchestras, 18 show choirs and jazz bands and 1,250 solos and ensembles.
The Peddler Show visits Amarillo's Civic Center twice a year. Every early spring and late fall, the show arrives with a wide selection of decorative items for the home, as well as clothes, perfumes, candles and other specialty items.
In addition, there are some delicious food items for sale, like jalapeno peanut brittle and homemade jams and preserves. Whether it's a piercing guitar solo performed by the latest band on tour or a swift display of skill from a champion roper at the latest rodeo, experience it all and more as you take your seat at one of Amarillo's best entertainment venues.
The Center also welcomes such diverse events as national equestrian competitions, motor sports events, and state fairs. Chances are, if it's happening in Amarillo, it's happening at the Amarillo National Center.
