An architectural gem on the city's bayfront, The Art Center of Corpus Christi is home to 11 arts organizations, and showcases works from local and area artists in rotating exhibitions. The 14,400-square-foot building houses a main gallery and four studios, including a clay studio that encourages artists to complete works-in-progress in front of visitors.

The Art Center also offers art classes, to express your own creativity in photos, watercolors, oils, sculpture or other media. Workshops, outreach projects and other events to promote the arts to the public are an integral part of the Art Center of Corpus Christi as well.

The Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History invites you to explore the natural history exhibits and a collection of artifacts that tell the history of the New World as it unfolded on the Gulf Coast.

Check out the unique life-sized replicas of the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria ships. The vessels were a gift from Spain to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbus' voyage to the New World. They were constructed from authentic 15th-century materials, including wood from the same forest as Columbus' ships and hand-forged nails.

Other exhibits include an interactive shipwreck display, artifacts related to French explorer Robert Cavelier, the Children's Wharf, Native American crafts, and bird and reptile eggs that chronicle the history and culture of South Texas.

Return to the past as you step aboard the USS Lexington Museum, where you'll experience the World War II aircraft carrier that symbolizes the perseverance and determination of sailors, pilots, and military personnel who fought for freedom during the war.

The floating museum features self-guided tours through the ship's maze of tunnels and ladders. Five self-guided tours cover 100,000 square feet and 11 decks. Sections of the ship that are open to the public include the hangar deck, engine room and sick bay, gallery deck, flight deck, navigation bridge, pilot house, and a chart house.
