Enjoy the hot weather with even hotter entertainment at the Dallas Summer Musicals series. The best Broadway shows come to the stage, with performances like "Stomp," "West Side Story" and "Burn the Floor." Shows run from March through October.

Dallas Summer Musicals is rooted in the tradition of summer-stock performances, where actors stretch their wings and audience members are receptive to a unique and exciting atmosphere. Excellent and thrilling performances are the norm, especially for this well-established group.

Dallas Summer Musicals actually began back in 1941, when theaters and troupes did not have the luxury of performing indoors in an air-conditioned setting. The lure and specialness of live theater continued the tradition, even with the advent of comfortable and cool indoor alternatives.

In the early 1980s, the Dallas Summer Musicals established a national reputation, creating touring productions such as "Peter Pan" starring Sandy Duncan, and "Hello Dolly!" starring Carol Channing.

Today, the theater has re-established its roots, producing local shows of such well-known plays like "The Music Man", "Oklahoma!" and "South Pacific." The theater group also experiments with cutting-edge and modern plays, satisfying its audience's thirst for provocative and lively entertainment. The Dallas Summer Musicals emphasizes family entertainment during the summer months every year, per tradition.
