Bask in the sweet sounds of jazz music at the Houston International Jazz Festival, which makes its annual return by celebrating a remarkable run of music, artists, education, and history. The festival, benefitting Jazz Education, Inc., a nonprofit organization, starts the summer with live music and a host of musicians and bands worldwide. Stroll through the artful Lillie and Hugh Roy Cullen Sculpture Garden, located in the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. The garden is home to more than 25 works from the museum's collection, including sculptures by Henri Matisse. The Museum of Fine Arts Houston is a masterpiece of historic proportions, with a collection of more than 57,000 works of art and more than 300,000 square feet of exhibit space. It is one of the largest museums with a collection dating from antiquity to the modern-day. Works include Italian Renaissance paintings, French Impressionist works, photographs, American and European decorative arts, African and Pre-Columbian gold, American art, and European and American paintings and sculpture.

Duck into an authentic Irish-style pub, where live music, pints, and lip-smacking pub food rule the evening. McGonigel's Mucky Duck is a nightlife spot in Houston that's celebrated for its Irish nights featuring open calls for musicians and Irish dancers to entertain the crowd.
