The aptly-named Champions Golf Club in Houston was a winning course from its origins. Designed by Ralph Plummer in 1959 and destined for greatness, the Club was founded by PGA pro golfers Jack Burke Jr. and Jimmy Demaret.
Its championship, 18-hole Cypress Creek Course contains more than 70,000 trees, wide fairways and sprawling greens. Shortly after it opened, the course hosted the Ryder Cup Matches, the United States Open and the PGA tour's Champions International.
The course has a par of 71 and features 7,200 yards of golf from the longest tee.
The Champions Golf Club is known for its grand clubhouse as much as the tournaments it hosts. The clubhouse is set far back from the road, creating a majestic entrance fronted by a flower-filled lawn.
