The garden is home to more than 25 works from the museum's collection, including sculptures by Henri Matisse. The Museum of Fine Arts Houston is a masterpiece of historic proportions, with a collection of more than 57,000 works of art and more than 300,000 square feet of exhibit space. It is one of the largest museums in the U.S. with the collection dating from antiquity to modern-day. Works include Italian Renaissance paintings, French Impressionist works, photographs, American and European decorative arts, African and Pre-Columbian gold, American art, and European and American paintings and sculpture.
Bask in the sweet sounds of jazz music with the Houston International Jazz as it makes it annual return each year celebrating a remarkable run of music, artists, education and history. The festival, benefitting Jazz Education, Inc., a nonprofit organization, starts the summer off with live music and a host of musicians and bands from all over the world. The focus of the festival always seeks to honor the legends, the music and the standards of tradition; shaping the young minds and educating for the future. The Jazz Festival schedule and venue vary from year to year including Music World, Bayou Music Center and The Mayor’s Scholarship Jazz Brunch Sunday at Wortham Theater Center.
