Things To Do in Houston, TX
Take a tour through history at The Printing Museum, chronicled by the advent and modernization of printing methods, and learn how the printed word transformed modern culture. Your tour starts with the development of ancient Mesopotamian clay tablets, then the invention of moveable type and Gutenberg's printing press. Along the way, gain a better understanding of how newspaper accounts of major wars, the distribution of the Gutenberg Bible, the Declaration of Independence, and other pivotal documents chronicle the printing revolution and its impact on society. Before your departure, stop by the gift shop to take a part of printing history with you.
Enjoy a great meal seven days a week at Saint Arnold Brewing Company's Beer Garden & Restaurant. When you're done, take a tasting tour of Texas' oldest craft brewery. Their small crew does everything at the brewery: brew the beer, filter the beer, keg the beer, bottle the beer, sell the beer and drink the beer. For them, that is a passion, not a job, and they believe that it shows through in the beers they make, because their beers have soul.
Beat the heat at Wet 'n' Wild SplashTown, one of the largest waterparks in the U.S. Torpedo down one of the dozens of slides, ride the whitewater rapids raft rides or just relax in a wave pool. There's plenty of attractions for the entire family.
Batten down the hatches and prepare yourself for the Buffalo Bayou Regatta, Texas' largest canoe and kayak race open to paddlers ages 12 and up where are all encouraged to take part in a most memorable race along the scenic Buffalo Bayou. People from all over come to compete in this longstanding Houston tradition that begins near San Felipe Street and concludes at Allen's Landing. Free shuttle service is provided for all participants for the 15-mile exciting race that concludes with festivities, including live zydeco music, food and drinks, and trophies for the top three paddlers in Teams, Recreational Canoe, Recreational Kayak and Unlimited Divisions. The regatta is held annually, so check their website for specific registration details.
