The Ceramic and Pottery Center

Capture a moment in time at the Houston Center for Photography, where you'll find evolving exhibits by emerging and established photographers and plenty of spur-of-the-moment workshops to brush up on your photography skills. As a small visual artists organization, their gallery features some of the finest works of contemporary photography. They also offer over 300 photography classes and workshops year-round. Varying in competency levels, these classes are all taught by esteemed photographers and lecturers, including some of the masters of the medium.

Beat the heat at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown, where you can enjoy fun-filled, pulse-pounding, and exhilarating thrill rides for all ages. Have you ever wondered what it feels like to be in the middle of a tornado? Take on the Tornado, one of the most popular attractions, which shoots riders down a 132-foot-long tunnel and blasts them into a giant funnel. Check out the Stingray Racer, where six waterslide lanes stand five stories tall, propelling riders down a twisting and turning track. The  Thunder Run, where the inline tube slide picks up speed at every twist and turn, and the many other attractions for the entire family.

Grab some cold water, ice cream, and milk and get ready as you boldly go where many have dared to go, the Hops N Hot Sauce Festival, where hot sauces, salsas, peppers, spices, chili mixes, wing sauces, and all things hot and mild are waiting for you to taste. Participate in the Hot Pepper Eating Contest, enjoy the free photo booth, taste samples of spicy foods, drink fresh craft beer, enter the Pickle Eating Contest, and enjoy free giveaways and free face painting fun.
