If you love wildflowers, then Miss Nellie's Pretty Place at Cameron Park will most likely be your favorite spot on this 416-acre park. Cameron Park was a gift to the city of Waco from the Cameron family in the early part of the 1900s. Ever since then, the park has attracted a steady stream of nature-lovers who come out to enjoy a picnic, go for a jog, take a hike, or even ride horses and mountain bikes in the specified areas. The foot paths are rock-lined and the pool and amphitheatre are always well cared for, making Cameron Park both visually and naturally beautiful. It's a great place to spend your day outdoors.
Cotton Belt Trail
The Cotton Belt Trail is a highlight of the Meridian State Park which opened in 1935 and, while offering impressive sites to camp and fish, this hiking trail is as challenging as it is picturesque. Spread out along Bee Creek, the natural rock formations and foliage only add to the recreation trail's rustic charm that keeps it from getting lost in the background.
