Things To Do in Richmond, VA

Virginia State Capitol Virginia State Capitol

Breathe in the regal beauty and majestic grandeur of Richmond when you take a tour of the Capitol Square and Virginia State Capitol. The dramatic Civil War history and other episodes seem a little less heated when you experience the classic beauty of the State Capitol. The tour also includes a chance to see the surrounding grounds. Your guide will draw connections between the various points of interest within the Capitol building, some notable artifacts, and the surrounding sites. Don't forget your camera, as there are several monuments on the grounds that will make for some excellent photos.

Virginia Repertory Theatre Virginia Repertory Theatre

Instead of taking the family out to a movie or the mall, why not opt for an evening of great live theater? You won't have to go far to find quality entertainment when you make Theatre IV your destination. This is the second largest children's theater in the nation in attendance, and that distinction only drives this nonprofit, professional theater to continue to excel in its performances.

Major James H. and Sallie May Dooley Major James H. and Sallie May Dooley

Maymont began as the 100-acre Victorian estate of Major James H. and Sallie May Dooley. The couple's mansion was complete in 1893 and over the next three decades they created lush garden scenery, picturesque landscapes and beautifully crafted outbuildings. Today, visitors can not only enjoy all of that natural allure, but there are such amenities as the Maymont House Museum, historic gardens, a carriage collection, nature center, wildlife exhibits and a children's farm to enjoy, as well. Still, there are several choice spots to enjoy an outdoor picnic on this inviting piece of historic land.
