Military and history buffs alike will be fascinated by the F. E. Warren AFB Intercontinental Ballistic Missile and Heritage Museum located on the Warren Air Force Base. Originally established by the army as Fort David Allen Russell in 1867, Warren is known as the oldest continuously active military installation within the Air Force. The on-base museum showcases the history of missiles and the lives of men and women who were stationed here.
One of the largest Marian statues in the United States, Our Lady of Peace Shrine stands over 30 feet tall and weighs 180 tons. An unexpected sight in the small town of Pine Bluffs, along Cheyenne’s Interstate 80, this amazing concrete sculpture breaks up the monotony of fields and grain elevators.
Although you have to cross state lines to get to Lucky Joe’s Sidewalk Saloon, it is well worth the trip! Get up close and personal with the great North American bison at the Terry Bison Ranch, just seven miles south of Cheyenne. Explore the ranch resort attractions and its grassland grazers on either the custom-built train or by horseback riding along the trails. You can also enjoy fishing at the rainbow trout-stocked pond, let the children play at the Kid Corral and dine at the excellent Senator’s Steakhouse.
