But when history comes to life as brilliantly as it does when you visit Old Alabama Town, you and your family can travel back in time on a truly unforgettable adventure. Old Alabama Town is a collection of authentically restored 19th and 20th century structures that cover six city blocks. This nearly cinematic group of buildings will capture everyone's imagination. See gristmills, stores, a one-room schoolhouse and lots more, plus costumed guides that give a voice to the stories and history this unique attraction vividly evokes.

There's art that was probably inspired by something miles away, and then there's the kind of art that speaks to you because it hits close to home. That is what the works of art stir up in the many patrons who frequent SAC's Gallery. This is a cooperative gallery that prominently features the work of local artists. Sac's is sponsored by the Society of Arts and Crafts of Montgomery. Founded in 1979, it is located in the city's historic Mulberry District.

Sometimes when your kids get antsy and irritable, the best remedy is to let them run around outside and play for awhile. Montgomery's Vaughn Road Park is the perfect attraction for just that. This is a kid-friendly park and offers several large, expansive areas as well as state-of-the-art jungle gyms and other fun activities that will entertain even the most restless child. There are also plenty of great places to enjoy a picnic or just sit and watch the kids enjoy themselves.

The Alabama National Fair is not only a fun event held every fall, but also it has a higher purpose. The event's objective is to raise funds to support children and youth charities throughout central Alabama and the aid is distributed through the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery. Great food, fun and music are just a few of this festival's many attractions. But once it is all said and done, the overriding purpose of providing assistance to those in the area who are in need is successfully accomplished.
