Hank Williams was an unmistakeable forefather of country music, and his creations and legacy are celebrated to great effect in the Hank Williams Museum. Williams is linked to Montgomery as he won his first talent show here at the Empire Theatre and also gave his last performance here just three days before his death. The museum attraction features an amazing collection of memorabilia and mementos that tell the story of the life and work of this true musical legend.
Take in an evening of great music and masterful moves when you check out a performance at the Alabama Dance Theatre. Founded in 1986, this group puts on a variety of performances that include both classical and contemporary works. Make sure to check the entertainment schedule for various major productions throughout the year as well as the highly popular summer schedule.
There's art that was probably inspired by something miles away, and then there's the kind of art that speaks to you because it hits close to home. That is what the works of art stir up in the many patrons who frequent SAC's Gallery. This is a cooperative gallery that prominently features the work of local artists. Sac's is sponsored by the Society of Arts and Crafts of Montgomery. Founded in 1979, it is located in the city's historic Mulberry District.
