Retrace the steps of some of our nation's bravest and most fervent believers in equal rights when you find your way on the Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail. This trail was indeed blazed by those seeking equal voting rights as well as other civil rights issues. The trail was established by Congress in 1996 to commemorate the people, events and route of the 1965 Voting Rights march in Alabama. While you can drive the historic route from Selma to Montgomery, make sure you stop into the Selma Interpretive Center that offers a Martin Luther King, Jr. Street Walking Tour.

The whole family can reach for the stars when you visit the W.A. Gayle Planetarium. This fascinating attraction offers several presentations and exhibits that bring the wonder of outer space clearly within reach. The planetarium opened in 1969 and after undergoing a significant renovation now offers visitors a captivating look at space with the aid of 22 video projectors, a new sound system and the innovative use of Laser Light Shows.

Among Cheaha State Park's many features are the spectacular views from its high hills and mountains. Another high point is the yearly Annual Mountain Bike Championship Race. The race follows along a 10-mile course that is set up along the park's impressive bike trail. But even when the race isn't on, biking enthusiasts sharpen their skills on this challenging yet popular recreation trail.
