Located in Midtown Detroit’s Cultural Center Historic District, this 80,000-square-foot museum has been around since 1928, making it both America’s largest and oldest museum dedicated to a metropolitan history. The exhibits and attractions here are both interesting and engaging.

Wine and dine your date at the sumptuous La Dolce Vita. This hidden gem of a restaurant is known as one of the most romantic Italian venues in the city. Guests can choose to sit inside, where the classical, cathedral architecture and candlelight creates the perfect mood, or in the courtyard outside, where you can dine under the stars. Located in the Detroit Theatre District, the Detroit Masonic Temple holds the record as the largest Masonic Temple in the world. You don’t have to be part of a Masonic organization to appreciate this magnificent piece of architecture, however. Come by the venue for various entertainment events, including concerts and Broadway plays, hosted on its 55 by 100-foot stage.

Watch the Detroit Red Wings soar across the ice in the Joe Louis Arena. Perhaps living so close to the Birthplace of Hockey has inspired this sports team–the Red Wings have managed to win the most Stanley Cup championships out of any NHL team in the US, and rank third internationally right behind the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
