Despite its name, Café D’Mongo’s Speakeasy is not a true speakeasy. However, the rich furnishings and dim lighting certainly lend a speakeasy mood to this popular bar. This former jazz club offers guests a subdued, comfortable nightlife experience where they can relax, sip on drinks and listen to live music performances.

You will also find the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory in Belle Isle Park. This gorgeous greenhouse and botanical garden covers 13 acres. Built in 1904, this conservatory still overflows with beautiful plant life. Formal perennial gardens, annual flowerbeds, a rose garden and lily pond garden surround the domed conservatory, which is filled with exotic tropical and desert plants.

Experience art in the great outdoors when you visit the Heidelberg Project in the city’s east side. A project begun by artist Tyree Guyton and his grandfather, Sam Mackey, this project has drawn the interests of artists and non-artists worldwide and sparked hope in the impoverished Heidelberg Street by using bright paint and salvaged items to transform dilapidated houses into colorful works of modern art.
