Hear the voice of the African American community by enjoying entertainment at the Penumbra Theatre. This well-respected, nationally recognized theater presents works depicting emotional, relevant and valuable experiences from an African American perspective. The Penumbra Theatre Company has grown since its founding in 1976 to one of the exclusive top regional theaters.

Bring the kids out to a place where they can touch, climb, splash, crawl, push, pull and press everything in sight. The Minnesota Children’s Museum offers fun-filled, hands-on exhibitions and attractions that allow children to explore and learn about the world by playing. Children can learn about the natural world, other cultures, history and art at the different galleries.

Enter the musical realm at the Schubert Club Museum of Musical Instruments. An interpretive guide leads tours through the facility, explaining the history of the club and the museum’s permanent collection. Exhibits include the evolution of the modern keyboard, an impressive collection of musical manuscripts and a space for musical experimentation.

Make your way to Harriet Island during August to witness the greenest weekend in Saint Paul at the Irish Fair of Minnesota. Just like St. Patrick’s Day, this fair brings out the Irish in everyone. Come by for music, food, drink and workshops—all designed to share the Irish culture. The proceeds of this festival benefit the new (non-Irish) immigrant projects and other Irish cultural activities throughout the year.
