True to its name, the theater presents entertainment that explores the many different histories that make up Saint Paul’s diverse community. For more than 30 years, History Theatre has produced more than 100 world premieres by national playwrights such as Craig Wright, Frank McCourt, Doris Baizley and others.
Learn about the mobster history in Saint Paul at Wabasha Street Caves. These Gangster Tours take you around the man-made sandstone caves in the Saint Paul area. Dressed up and in-character guides share information about the use of the caves in the 1920s, such as the Wabasha Street Speakeasy. Often frequented by gangsters like John Dillinger, these historical caves are also rumored to be haunted.
View the Minnesota Historical Society’s collection of art, archaeological artifacts, documents, books and other attractions at the Minnesota History Center. This museum and library house the largest amount of materials regarding the state’s past. Learn about the history of Minnesota, or simply stop by for one of the many performances or other special events hosted in this large facility.
If you love either sports or music, chances are good that the Xcel Energy Center will be hosting a performance you won’t want to miss. This multipurpose arena offers four spectator levels and can seat approximately 18,000. This popular venue is home to the NHL’s Minnesota Wild and the NLL’s Minnesota Swarm, as well as a regular host for nationally popular musical artists and other entertainment attractions.
