Worldfest-Houston International Film Festival is the oldest independent film and video festival that has evolved over 50 years to recognize and honor outstanding creative excellence in film and video and validates brilliant abilities to promote cultural tourism for Houston. WorldFest screens only 55-60 feature film premieres, with a complete and absolute emphasis on American and International Independent feature films and a continuing annual spotlight on an individual country and its films. They also offer competition in TV production, commercials, and music videos.

What began as a hobby has bloomed into one of Houston's most popular tourist attractions, The Beer Can House. Over 18 years, the house disappeared under 50,000 flattened beer cans of different varieties for practical and decorative reasons. The can motif was only one aspect of the now-iconic visionary art environment. The yard is filled with plants and flowers that hang from the trees, occupy ceramic vessels, and grow in raised beds. As the neighborhood has changed, the property remains a time capsule of Houston’s vernacular architecture from the early 20th century, with a surprise around every corner.

Climb aboard a WWII-era bomber or a flight-training plane at the Lone Star Flight Museum, where they celebrate Texas aviation and engage in educating youth through science, technology, engineering, and math. Enjoy the 130,000-square-foot museum, home to a flying collection of rare and historic commercial, general aviation, and military aircraft. Guests can experience the wonder of flight in a warbird ride and get hands-on in the high-tech Aviation Learning Center and Flight Academy. Let your hair down and enjoy sand volleyball and pickleball at Bumpy Pickle, where you can enjoy five well-lit, regulation-size sand volleyball courts and nine pickleball courts. It’s a great place to unwind with friends and coworkers or even on an adventurous date. Bumpy Pickle offers a lip-smacking menu ranging from tacos to full-blown entrees. They even have something special for the kiddos. And you can bet they did not forget the sweet tooth, dessert-loving bunch.
