Since 1976, locals and visitors alike have enjoyed the Westfest Polka Festival, held in West, Texas, a short 15 mile drive from Waco. Visitors pay homage to the German culture in Texas with a big variety of food booths, kids' activities, a parade, baking contests, arts and crafts, a tractor pull and even a polka mass! Of course, there is also plenty of polka music and dance contests to enter and enjoy. The event is traditionally held over the Labor Day weekend, so plan to make your way out West for an unforgettable time at the Westfest Polka Festival.

Hawaiian Falls is the perfect place for the whole family to take the plunge! Beat the Central Texas heat by diving into one of the two pools, slip and slide on the series of slides that tower up 22 feet, test your swimming skills in the competition pool or maybe opt for the beach entry pool with interactive toys. Witness the fruits of the collaboration of Baylor's Drama Department and renowned architects to build and showcase the Theatre as it stands today. The theatre produces 6 Main Stage Productions, ranging from classic dramas to new Broadway musicals to hilarious comedies. Aspiring local artists, theatre professionals, educators, and youth all work in partnership to produce children’s theatre workshops, productions and outreach programs.

There's history that reaches back, and then there's history that reaches way back. That's what you'll find at the Waco Mammoth Site. This is where you can step back in time 68,000 years ago when mammoths and saber-toothed cats roamed the land that would eventually become Texas. Paleontologists came to discover this mammoth heard which was discovered in 1978 and wasn't opened for public viewing until 2009. These Pleistocene mammoths represent the first and only discovery of a nursery herd of these creatures, so don't miss this dramatic and unforgettable peek into some real stone age stories.
