Since 1976, locals and visitors alike have enjoyed the Westfest Polka Festival, held in West, Texas, a short 15 mile drive from Waco. The role Texas has played in American history is dramatically presented at the Red Men Museum and Library. This is where the national office is located, and the library is inside the same facility. Artifacts from various points in American history are gathered here, like Aaron Burr's writing desk, a ring that used to belong to Rudolph Valentino, and a bugle that was used on the field at Gettysburg. Reference materials, archival documents and other items are all housed here, and this museum presents history from an unmistakable Native American perspective.
