Bloomsday is the largest timed race in the world, and, as its name indicates, is held every first Sunday in May. The race is held in Spokane and it spans 7.46 miles; its participants train for the stretch all year long. It is quite a spectacle to see the over 50,000 runners take to the racing route and engage in a dramatic competition that not only celebrates the discipline and spirit of athletic competition, it also aptly celebrates Spokane's undeniable community spirit.

Not only will you get to hear some of the best local, regional and even national acts, you'll also enjoy some of the extra amenities that this hip hangout offers. There's a great restaurant and fun nightclub all owned by the same management, so you get to save a little travel time by getting a great meal, hearing some live music, and dancing the night away at one of downtown Spokane's favorite places.

Get some good exercise while rolling around on a pair of roller skates at Pattison's North Skating Rink. Enjoy the fun of leisurely skating along the rink's surface to some of your favorite music. It's a fun way to get the family together. And if you or your kids don't know how to skate all that well, don't worry! There are plenty of rails to hang on to as well as an area for intermediate skaters that will give you plenty of room to roll!

Some of the best views in Spokane can be seen from behind a pair of handlebars. To see them for yourself, strap on your helmet and let your feet hit the pedals on Row Adventure Center's popular bike tour. These are the only guided tours offered on the Hiawatha Trail and are definitely a great way to explore the area while getting some exercise. The guides are not only expert bikers, but they are quite well-versed in the area's history, and are informative and entertaining sources of information as you travel the trail.
