Formed by a small but dedicated group in 1989, the Texas Trail Museum marks the historic Texas Cattle Trail. Housed in a former Power Plant/Fire House, the small museum displays a number of historic and pre-historic artifacts from Albin, Burns, Carpenter, Egbert, Pine Bluffs and other areas of Laramie County, and includes six historic buildings.
Like trains? Then you’ll love the Big Boy Steam Engine in Holliday Park! This retired Old Number 4004, the world’s largest steam locomotive, used to harness the power of coal to pull a 3,600-ton train along the steep hills of Union Pacific railroad. Although you can no longer climb aboard, Big Boy remains an imposing sight and one of the city's best attractions.
Wander across the border to Colorado for A Wanderlust Adventure in the white-water rapids of the Poudre River. AWA offers exciting recreational rafting trips along this wild and scenic river, less than an hour away from Cheyenne. Great for novice adventurers and active thrill seekers alike, this ride over the rapids is comparable to one of the Cheyenne Frontier Day bull rides.
